DoD/Navy SBIR/STTR Innovation Summit

Wichita State University is collaborating with New Mexico State University to offer a full-day DoD Navy SBIR/STTR Innovation Summit.The event will include:

  • One-on-one sessions Navy Program Manager Brian Wilber (by appointment
  • Overview of WSU Innovation Resources:  Innovation Campus, WSU Ventures, Center for Entrepreneurship, Career Development, College of Engineering, Kansas Small Business Development Center, WSU Patent Library and a GoCreate Tour
  • Panel discussion on SBIR Tips & Best Practices featuring previous and current SBIR recipients
  • Navy SBIR overview and a livestream from NMSU's Arrowhead Center featuring powerhouse speakers addressing the Navy SBIR/STTR program's $350 million in non-dilutive funds available to small businesses


Brian Wilber is a program manager for the Navy SBIR Program, and has been working there since 2014, primarily providing IT project management for the development and maintenance of SBIR's business process automation tools. In addition, he has developed the program's SharePoint website, allowing for enhanced tracking, collaboration and management of data between multiple departments. Before working for the SBIR program, he worked in NAVSEA's Submarine program for five years with their technical upgrade and cost-reduction teams. He is a 2007 graduate of the College of William and Mary received his master's degree in international security from George Mason University in 2013.
